I have a friend who took this advice to heart and took the money that they initially were going to look at paying for a big wedding and placed a down payment on their new home and were married at their home. They were married in the Springtime in their own backyard which was colorfully decorated. The minister was actually a family member of the bride. Remember if you have a large family or friends you may be surprised to find a minister who could definitely cut down the cost. Even the wedding reception was held at their home which was beautifully decorated and food had been provided by both families.
